This letter is to inform you of recent organizational developments at the Public Service Commission (PSC)’s Staffing and Assessment Services Branch (SASB) and changes to the 2013-2014 fee structure for our products and services.

Changes to the Staffing and Assessment Services Branch

On June 19, 2013, the PSC initiated a restructuring of SASB in response to the continued demand for specialized services and a decline in the demand for cost recovery staffing services.

While there is ongoing demand for the PSC’s specialized services such as executive counselling, test accommodation, assessment and language testing, the decline in staffing services required that we redefine our service offering.

The PSC will continue to:

  • Maintain a small cost recovery staffing unit in Ottawa for non-EX staffing;
  • Maintain a regional presence in Halifax, Montréal, Toronto and Vancouver;
  • Provide assessment and test administration services in Ottawa and its four regional offices;
  • Manage central recruitment programs; and
  • Offer a full range of products such as expert assessment services on both appropriations and cost recovery.

The PSC will no longer offer staffing services in Halifax, Montréal, Toronto and Vancouver. This service will be phased out during 2013-2014.

Maintaining our offices across Canada ensures that we continue to benefit from the increased awareness of regional issues and region-specific recruitment needs. Our regional offices will also play an important role in advancing the PSC outreach agenda on key issues such as official languages and employment equity.

Changes to our fees

Most fees will remain unchanged in 2013-2014.The Identification of Middle Management Potential Assessment Centre will slightly increase, with the inclusion of an extra measure for developmental purposes. However, we are pleased to be able to offer a reduced price for the PSC’s 360o Assessment as well as more economical options for other products. The other revisions to the fee structure include new variations of current products and services and better pricing bundles.

Following the success of last year’s introduction of expert seminars on assessment accommodation and on the Integrated Leadership Assessment Model, the PSC has now added pre-recorded Webinars with follow-up live sessions, as well as the option of both single and group registration to all seminars and Webinars. These seminars are essential to provide candidates, human resources (HR) specialists and hiring managers with the right tools and information to support effective HR decisions and career management.
