As part of its ongoing commitment to support federal organizations in their student recruitment efforts, the Public Service Commission (PSC) is pleased to announce the upcoming launch of the 2012-2013 Federal Student Work Experience Program (FSWEP) Campaign.

The FSWEP program provides managers with access to an inventory of students for temporary job placements, either part-time during an academic term or part-time and full-time during non-academic terms (e.g., during the summer). Students remain an important source of renewal for the public service.

The FSWEP inventory consists of talented and motivated students in more than 350 academic disciplines from high schools, CEGEPs, colleges and universities across the country.

Campaign timeline

  • Starting October 29, 2012: the 2012-2013 FSWEP campaign opens for student registration; and
  • Starting November 05, 2012: the 2012-2013 FSWEP inventory is available to hiring organizations.

Key features

  • Access students in the FSWEP inventory:

Hiring organizations obtain student referrals from the FSWEP inventory on the basis of search criteria such as academic level, field of study and skills, and to fulfill employment equity needs. A hiring manager's request for student referrals or request for a student's re-employment is submitted on-line to the PSC.
  • Promote your student employment opportunities:

Hiring organizations who want to spotlight their student jobs at any point throughout the campaign may choose to do so using the "Featured Jobs" promotions vehicle located in the FSWEP section of the jobs.gc.ca Web site.

For hiring organizations with particular student recruitment requirements, a unique advertisement may be posted so as to create a candidate inventory within the broader FSWEP inventory. To post your job opportunities using this approach, please contact us before September 20, 2012.

To explore these features, please contact us at FSWEPLL@cfp-psc.gc.ca or Jacinthe Bergeron, Program Manager, Student Programs, at 613-995-8894 or by e-mail. Additional information about FSWEP can be found on the PSC's Web site.
